The Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder enables easy recording in class, at home, or on-the-go with automated publishing and interactive viewing within Blackboard. You can automatically capture video, audio, and screen in parallel. You can record presentations or capture the screen. Kaltura Capture is a free application that allows you to record your webcam, desktop or both. Kaltura Capture is available to faculty and students via My Media WebCampus. Kaltura Capture. Kaltura Capture (or Kaltura Personal Capture) is a desktop application that allows computer screen recording and video recording via a webcam. It is an easy to use application and is available for both PC and Mac. Video recorded on Kaltura Capture can be shared with others on Canvas.net LMS.

Option 2: Installing for Mac. Click Download for Mac to download the application. Double click on the DMG file to open. The window will appear. Drag the Kaltura Capture application icon to the Applications folder. Click My Media from the navigation inside Brightspace. Click the Add New button and choose Capture to launch Kaltura Capture. On your My Media page, click the Add New button in the upper right and then select Kaltura Personal Capture. This takes you to the Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder screen. Under the 'Using Kaltura for the first time?' Section, select either Download for Windows or Download for Mac, depending on your computer. This will begin the download process.

VERY IMPORTANT: Using Kaltura Capture requires a machine with a minimum of 4 GB of RAM.

To begin this process you will need to be in your Kaltura My Media module.

Once you are in your My Media click on the Add New menu in the top right and chooseKaltura Capture.

  1. Download the installation file for Windows or Mac.
  2. Run the installation file to install Kaltura Capture.
  3. Go back to the Add New menu in your My Media and selectKaltura Capture again.

The website will automatically identify that you already installed the application and will launch the application within seconds.

Kaltura Capture allows users to record and upload videos to Canvas courses. This is similar to Capture Space Lite on D2L. These steps will walk you through how to download Kaltura Capture.

1. From the Canvas homepage, navigate to My Media by clicking on your account on the Global Navigation bar.

2. On the My Media page, select the Add New drop down and choose Kaltura Capture.

3. The first time you use Kaltura Capture you will have to download the program. Select either the download for Windows or Mac depending on the computer you are using.

4. Install the program by following the prompts of the Setup Wizard (Next,Next, Install, Finish). The process to install may take a couple of minutes.

5. After installation is complete, the Kaltura Capture icon will be added to you desktop.

6. Go back your My Media in Canvas. Click on Add New to access Kaltura Capture.

Note: If you attempt to access Kaltura Capture on your desktop it will prompt you with an error message, 'Please launch Kaltura Capture from the 'Add New' menu on your website.'
